Best Fall Magazines

Halloween is getting more and more popular each year. Enjoy it all the more with the best fall magazines. I love writing about fall, in fact you can read past posts, here and here. Each September my wife waits anxiously to get her hands on the October issues of Country Living, Southern Living, and Martha Stewart Living. Each magazine is guaranteed to have superb ideas on decorating for Halloween.
Once again this year, none of these magazines disappoint. We’ll start with Martha Stewart Living. Her staff’s featured pumpkins are always amazing; this year’s are no exception.
The pumpkin found on the cover with the ginko “vine” pattern looks classy and amazing. I like how they made the light holes where the berries are. You can find several other ideas on pages 133-137. It also includes their special pumpkin carving techniques, which you can also find here online.
I had a friend on Facebook ask her friends if there were any ideas for Halloween projects that her kindergarten kids could do next month. I pointed her to Country Living. While fantastic, Martha Stewart’s projects are a little difficult for young children. However, I find that some of the Halloween ideas in Country Living are excellent to do with kids.
Take for example the cheesecloth ghost ornaments on page 52. They are simple to make, but look like they were made by a professional when hung from a chandelier.
My wife’s favorite fall magazine is Southern Living, but more so for the fall recipes than the crafts. Oh my, the comfort food soup recipes listed on pages 111 through 144 look like pure perfection on a blustery fall day. The Cream of Potato and Onion soup is making my mouth water. Here is the exact recipe online. I don't know if you could ask for anything better on a cool fall day.
